Questions families ask before they start. If yours isn't here, ask us directly , we read every message.
You keep the document. If we ever close the service, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice by email with instructions for exporting everything you've entered in a format you can read, print, or hand to a lawyer. This is written into our Terms of Service.
Our goal is for this to be a document you never need to replace. If you finish it today and we're still here in twenty years, we hope your family finds it exactly where you left it. If we're not, you'll have a PDF you can fold into a drawer.
Sensitive fields, Social Security numbers, account numbers, credentials, are designed to be encrypted with AES-256 before they ever touch our database. The plan, during this pre-launch period, is that the product runs entirely in your browser, so no one else has access to your data, including us. Server-side encrypted storage ships before any paying customer arrives.
The contents of your document, your accounts, passwords, wishes, everything you write in DearGrove, are never sold or shared. Pay once, and that's the whole business model on the document side. If you want the specifics, our Security page has the full posture, and our Privacy principles page spells out what we do and don't do with your data.
The DearGrove document itself, your accounts, passwords, final wishes, everything you fill in, is never sold, shared, or handed to any third party. That data lives encrypted in our database and is only ever readable by you.
The one exception is fully opt-in: if you tick the “share my contact info with an estate planning provider” checkbox on our Find an advisor page, we may share a contact + context profile (your name, email, state, age range, and which estate documents you indicated you have or want) with a vetted attorney or firm in your state so they can reach out. Under California law and several other state privacy laws, that counts as a “sale” of personal information, even though we're only sharing what you explicitly chose to send.
You can change your mind at any time. Visit Do not sell or share my personal information to opt out, or read the full disclosure in our Privacy Policy.
Yes. When you finish, you can export a PDF and give it to anyone you trust, a spouse, adult child, or the professional handling your affairs. You can also share a secure link that expires when you say so (24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or open-ended) and revoke it at any time.
If you'd like two people to each have their own DearGrove, choose the Gift Pack ($59) at checkout. You keep one account and get a redemption code you can give to anyone, a partner, a parent, an adult child. Each account is fully independent with its own private document.
Yes. Three ways, depending on who it's for.
Single gift, $39.Pick Standard at checkout and tick “This is a gift for someone else.” Enter their email, your name, and an optional note; we'll send them an activation link with your message. You get the receipt; they get the account. We email you the moment they activate it.
One for yourself, one for someone else, $59. Choose the Gift Pack at checkout. You keep seat one and we mint a redemption link you can pass along on your own time, by text, email, or in person. Or tick the “send the second seat now” option and we'll email it directly to the recipient with your note.
Both seats as gifts, $59.Choose the Gift Pack and pick “gift both seats to two different people” at checkout. Enter two emails, your name, and an optional shared note. Both recipients get their own activation email and their own private account. You get a single receipt confirming both seats went out, and we email you the moment either one activates. Useful for buying for both parents, both grandparents, or any pair you want to set up at once.
If you buy DearGrove and decide it isn't right for you within 30 days, email us at support@deargrove.com and we'll refund you in full. No forms, no friction.
We'd also love to hear what didn't work. Not as a gate on the refund, that's already decided, just because we'd like to be better.
Whatever you want to happen. That's the point. When you set up DearGrove, you choose the people you trust to receive the document and how they receive it, a printed copy in a drawer, a PDF on a USB stick, or a secure link sent when a trusted person marks you as gone.
Your family gets everything you've entered: contacts, accounts, policies, passwords, wishes, and anything you wanted to say. They don't need to guess, search, or call every bank. It's all in one place, organized the way you organized it.
No. DearGrove is a companion to the legal documents your family needs, not a substitute for them. It tells your family where to find your will, who your attorney is, what your final wishes are, and how to access your accounts, but the binding legal paperwork itself still lives with your attorney.
If you don't have a will or trust yet and would like help creating one, we can connect you with a licensed advisor. Skippable, never pushy.
Most people get the bones down in about 30 minutes, and finish thoroughly in one afternoon. Eight short sections, one card at a time, and every field is optional, you can skip anything that doesn't apply to you and come back to it later. The product saves automatically as you go.
If you need to gather a password or look up an account number, you can pause and return to that card whenever you're ready. There's no deadline, no nudging, no streaks.
No. Pay once, yours for life. If we ever add a genuinely new standalone product, say, a printed keepsake version, it would be priced separately, and the product you bought today stays free to you forever. No surprise charges, no “premium” tier, no renewal emails.
One afternoon. A lifetime of clarity for the people you love.
